Type of Dive Site: Limestone cavern
Depth: 11 – 16
Marine Life: Turtle, Eagle Rays, Torpedo Rays, Squid, Coral Crabs, Cardinal Fish, and Big-Eye Soldier Fish are some of the critters here
Remarks: This dive site is best for your third dive in a day. Although this is a cavern, it is not considered an overhead environment as it has unrestricted access to the surface throughout. Once you exit the cavern there are some awesome swim throughs if you turn left and follow the reef
Type of Dive Site: Sloping reef
Depth: 11 – 30
Description: A site with a gentle slope, ideal for beginners. The area is home to a wide variety of coral species, making it a colorful and picturesque dive.
Marine Life: Turtles, Barracuda, Mola-Mola, Whale Shark, Marble Rays, Cow Tail Rays, Pipe Fish, Yellow Snapper, Nudibranchs and Bat Fish
Remarks: Often referred to as an aquarium. Tons of reef fish. Start inside the bay and approximately 150m inside the headland. Gets deep as you round the point. Lovely swim through at 18m and exiting at 11m
Type of Dive Site: Sloping reef with the soft corals
Depth: 5 – 28
Description: A site with dramatic underwater cliffs and walls, making it a fantastic spot for spotting large pelagic species like barracudas and trevallies.
Marine Life: Cow Tail Rays, Harlequin Shrimp, Turtle, Whip Goby, Coral Grouper and Nudibranchs
Remarks: This is a shallow area applicable for the third / night dive. Beautiful soft corals can be seen. Start your dive entry from the interior of the bay and swim towards East / Ras Lima. The reef will be at your right side. Beautiful pinnacles near the point but watch your NDL limits as this is a shallow to deep dive
Type of Dive Site: Combination of sloping coral wall and vertical wall. Has coral pinnacles dotted around the site as well
Depth: 10 – 55
Description: One of the most famous dive sites in Musandam. Known for its steep walls, overhangs, and a variety of marine life including barracudas, moray eels, and colorful corals.
Marine Life: Whale Shark, Tuna, Big-Eye Trevally, friendly Bat Fish, Barracuda, Cobia, Turtle, King Fish, Anemone Fish, Honeycomb Moray Eels, stunning Thistle Coral
Remarks: One of the favorite dive sites but care must be taken as there are strong currents in the area including down currents. Use the plant life as an indicator for currents here
Type of Dive Site: Sloping wall with lots of swim throughs and a cavern towards the Western point
Depth: 10 – 35
Description: The northern side of Lima Rock offers a different experience, with more shallow areas and vibrant coral gardens, suitable for both beginners and experienced divers.
Marine Life: There are so many things to see in the area such as Turtle, Sting Ray, Scorpion Fish, Stone Fish and Electric Ray. Shoaling Batfish and Trevally can be seen on the Western point
Remarks: A good dive to do in the afternoon as the sun will be at the correct angle. Great alternative if current is present on the Southern side
A large rock formation that extends underwater, offering a unique dive experience. The site is home to a variety of marine life, including groupers, snappers, and sometimes reef sharks.
Type of Dive Site: Sloping coral reef down to a sandy bottom
Depth: 5-24
Description: A drift dive site known for its strong currents and large schools of fish. Divers can expect to see groupers, snappers, and sometimes reef sharks.
Marine Life: Devil Rays, Cow Tail Rays, Eagle Rays, Mobular Rays, Nudibranchs, Pipe Fish, Turtles, Lionfish, Trigger Fish, Cone Shells, Leopard Shark and the best coral garden in the Musandam waters
Type of Dive Site: The Northeast of this Island is wall. And on the Western side the reef slopes
Marine Life: Cleaning Station, Sea Horse, Eagle Rays, Scorpion Fish, Barracuda, Angel Fish, Parrot Fish, Nudibranchs, Snapper, Trigger Fish, Lion Fish, Eels and Whale Shark
Remarks: There are some currents in the channel which come from the North. Start your dive at the North side of this island and go with the current either on the left or on the right side of the reef. Another of the top sites that the Musandam boasts. Look out for the huge school of Barracuda as you enter the sloping reef section from the wall. Swim out 15m from the reef and look at the Barracuda in the channel
Type of Dive Site: A combination of sloping reef, underwater pinnacles and ridges
Depth: 14 – 35
Description: A popular site for spotting cuttlefish, octopuses, and other cephalopods. The site also features rocky pinnacles and a variety of soft corals.
Marine Life: Barracuda, Batfish, Triggerfish, Tuna, Big-Eye Trevally, Whale Sharks, Nudibranchs, Lionfish, Sea-Horse, Marble Rays, Cuttle Fish, Anemone Fish, Eels and prolific soft corals
Remarks: An excellent dive site with a variety of routes to choose from which in turn allows for all experience levels to dive here
Type of Dive Site: Sloping reef
Depth: 5 – 35
Marine Life: Barracuda, Turtles, Eagle Rays, Leopard Shark, Bat Fish, Moray Eels and Nudibranch
Remarks: Another personal favorite with beautiful underwater topography. Best dived on a slight East to West current. Drop inside the bay and keep the reef on your left-hand shoulder
Type of Dive Site: Gradually sloping coral reef becoming a vertical wall at the headland
Depth: 10 – 40
Marine Life: There are so many things to see in the area such as shoal of Barracuda, Jack Fish, Bat Fish, Fusiliers, Parrot Fish, Turtle, Sting Ray, Marble Ray and if you are lucky you might see a White Tip Shark
Remarks: Be mindful of the net on the point as there is the possibility of entanglement. Another of the top dive sites in the region. Start dive inside the bay and dive with right shoulder to the reef
Type of Dive Site: Sloping coral reef down to a sandy bottom
Depth: 5 - 30
Description: Ra's Senut is known for its rocky underwater terrain and steep drop-offs. The site offers a mix of coral reefs and rocky outcrops, providing habitats for a variety of marine species. Divers can expect to see vibrant coral formations, schools of fish, and occasionally larger marine life such as rays and reef sharks.
Type of Dive Site: Wall up to 12m and then sloping reef on the Eastern drop
Depth: 5 – 26
Marine Life: Turtles, Leopard Shark, Yellow Boxy, Nudibranchs, Fusiliers, Marble Ray
Remarks: Check which way current if any is going and this will determine a drop in on the point or further along the wall. Excellent night dive dropping inside the headland in the bay and diving in a northerly direction
